The Internet has Made News Worse
Actually the internet has meant that we are no longer restricted to getting our news locally, with all the biases (and/or propaganda) that entails.
I get my daily news from sources all over the globe. Many bits of propaganda cancel each other out, leaving a kernel of hard news. After a while you begin to see which news outlets are dependably correct, and which news outlets are dependably untrue.
And the identity of those outlets can be quite surprising. Both ways!
(One particular news agency that I would swear by until a few years back is very close to the top of my 'take no notice of any of their bullshit' list.)
