I didn't watch the video, but the first question I had was - wouldn't they have become VCs anyway? Harvard Business School, upper class background (right schools, right clubs, etc), probably a massive rolodex (Larry Summers at the very least), and one startup that failed because they didn't hire good lawyers to make sure their programmer didn't get uppity. This seems to fit the profile of thousands of people in the valley.
