I'm not thinking of commercial anything - just changes financed by companies that want them. Example: PyPy getting almost no funding but Microsoft getting it's JIT into cpython. Big money will be deciding what happens. We're already all dependent on Github - and they've managed to use our code to train their AI. Like a vampire offering poor travellers a bed in it's castle and then sucking their blood :-D
