Greenland startup begins shipping glacier ice to cocktail bars
- palata 3y agoDoes it have to actually be ice from Greenland? They should just make ice in Dubai and sell it as Greenland ice there... Anyway if they actually ship ice from Greenland, I hope they bankrupt ASAP.
- bell-cot 3y agoThink of it as another way to tax the 1% and 0.01%, and give the money to the normal working humans. The article notes that they're using ice that's already fallen off the glacier, and is floating away in a fjord - so it's not like they're mining Greenland's ice cap. (And even if they were - at cocktail prices, the world's ultra-rich would all be bankrupt long before it'd make a visible-from-space dent in Greenland's ice cap.)

Always the same thing: as long as they don't take too much of it, that's fine. But whenever something is profitable... look at fishing, for instance. And fishing is a good example showing that the consumer does not give a damn. > And even if they were - at cocktail prices They don't say that they sell the ice at cocktail price. They sell the ice, and then the buyer uses it in cocktails.
