Are you allowed to take hours of recordings of Sean Connery's voice, splice words into sentences, and make a radio commercial out of it without paying Connery? You aren't, but this is exactly what AI companies are doing. AI companies want to hide behind the fact that their splicing machine is very fancy.
- itake 3y agoYes? it depends on what context. If you're creating a parody, yes it is legal (which sounds like is the case here). If the "You" is the owner of the 007 trademark, then yes, they the 007 trademark owner is allowed to do that too. If you're using that exact character in your own production, it is not fair use, then no you cannot do that.
