Agile failed because it had a naive view point of politics. It never understood that the bureaucrat is the enemy and that the bureaucracy wouldn't give it up so easily. Bureaucracy is just the human political animal expressing its awful nature in organizational systems. Instead, the bureaucracy did what does when it is threatened, it pretended to pay lip service to the agile principles while subverting them in order to survive and thrive. Amazing how Orwell never ceases to be relevant.
