Orbital reflectors could boost solar energy around dusk and dawn
- JoeAltmaier 3y agoSpeaking of that: It's currently quite futile to put solar panels on clockwork, so they track the sun across the daily sky. Why? The intensity drops off drastically around a few hours in the core of the day. Spending money on clockwork, to pick up that small change, is a waste of money. Far more useful, if you simply must have clockwork, is to control azimuth. That is, point at the noon sun as it changes position over the seasons. Get that right, you could double your annualized output perhaps. Doesn't even really need clockwork. I can be bothered to go out monthly and crank it over a bit by hand.
