Nah in the audiophile world everything is backwards. They don't care about clarity or not altering the signal and reproducing it as it was originally made.
They care about distortion. Distortion added under the guise of "warmth" and so on.
Vinyls can only reproduce a particular segment of freq and fairly poorly. You need a special (riaa) eq to flatten it out.
Valve amps distort sound as they warm up. Usually in form of boosting bass or vocal range a Lil.
I mean crikey audiophiles are some of the most backwards sector of tech heads. On one end you got latest and greatest class d ganfet amps with pfc. Legit go geez the output of something like an Admark AD442 in a 1U rackspace. Then go geez the folks still buying monoblock 100w amps that take up the space of about 6U. Lol the admarks a few grand. The monoblocks 30k. Irony is they will both usually get fed from a sub 100 dollar dsp chip in a speaker management device that's the real heart of the sound reproduction.
This old mates 1milly stereo is cool. But it's no paraflex (speaker shape style that combines front and back of driver output together). We've come a long way in 40 years of sound. Irony is that million buck rig would be matched by 10k of modern speakers and 5k in amps and processing. If it was in a stadium maybe 20k of speakers....
