That the market has cars bug enough for him, and the reasons for providing it, are not germane to his comment.

If the response to "why are cars so big now" is "because kids" then I think it's relevant to point out that that's not why they're big, and that we somehow manage to have 3 backseats and non-tank sized SUVs in Europe just fine.
