No need for a false dichotomy with complete apathy. I would apply moderate shame/disapproval on my kids for smoking cigarettes, but I struggle to get upset at hazard ratios as low as pure nicotine. Ultimately kids have to make some decisions, including some bad ones, in order to become adults. We are not talking about shooting heroin here.
