For those interested, it seems that it’s the flooding of rice fields that are responsible for the majority of the emissions this article is talking about. Something about anaerobic organic matter decay. I am not an expert, but did some quick googling, and found a site proposing alternate methods of rice growing that reduce methane emissions.
