I wouldn't invest in Israeli companies. Between boycotts, political instability and general moral guidelines it seems like a really bad idea if you want a return or to do the right thing. I hope and imagine we will see Intel, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google... divest their Israeli assets over time as the state becomes more of a pariah.
- weatherlite 3y ago> it seems like a really bad idea if you want a return According to what data? Are European companies returning better on average? Until shown otherwise I'm not even certain American tech is performing better (outside the big 5, but we're talking startups). As for Intel: new 25B investment (!) into Israel is coming https://www.reuters.com/technology/intel-get-32-billion-government-grant-new-25-billion-israel-chip-plant-2023-12-26/ https://www.reuters.com/technology/intel-get-32-billion-gove... I'll be surprised if the other big ones are about to leave. Don't get me wrong, Israeli startups are hurt for sure, many will have to shut down (as is happening all over the world), but many others will take their place - if not this year than the next. (A.I, defense, cyber, Israel still has tons of manpower capable to compete in those fields)
- hypeit 3y agoThe damage to Israel is immense. I actually don't think it's going to survive as a state. They've lost the support of the world, there's no end in sight to the violence that will happen both in Israel and around its borders and there's massive civil unrest for multiple reasons including that they can't afford to pay for the war and their religious entitlement programs, yet they're funding them anyway.
- weatherlite 3y agoMaybe, maybe not ... we'll live and see. I think things are far from certain to any direction at this point. But saying outright Israel "can't afford to pay for the war" is bullshit.
