Ever since Pizarro went searching, the legends of lost civilizations have been in the minds of explorers. Lots of explorers came up empty and the legends were thought to be hokum by supposed experts, so yeah, I don’t understand the narrative. Not only that but neither the Chinese nor South Africans, etc., have a different take or narrative that’s more globocebtric. I mean, I don’t think even the natives of the Amazon today have a better understanding than European, American, Asian or African archeologists regarding any such ancient civilization. It’s a really tired trope.
