I get why she's upset, but what is the point of arguing with these people? They're just the messengers.
- thrtythreeforty 3y agoShe's not arguing to change the outcome, she's arguing to call out the hypocrisy/bullshit. In some sense it's pointless, yes; in some other sense, you deserve an argument if you don't deal straightly with the person you're laying off.
- thepasswordis 3y agoShe's asking for an explanation that they can't give her, and also trying to use some bizarre appeal to emotion by mentioning "trauma" and how much this will upset her life.
- thrtythreeforty 3y ago> She's asking for an explanation that they can't give her True - and instead of admitting that, they hemhaw about how her performance was bad. Agree the appeal to emotion isn't really helping, but on balance it's Cloudflare that looks bad here.
- jbverschoor 3y agoIt was her performance, but she didn’t agree
- oblio 3y agoThey literally reply that it was a higher level thing that had to do with her team. So a layoff. The initial text seemed like filler.
- jbverschoor 3y agoWell, a layoff has a different impact than being fired. They talk about the performance of her and her peers. In any case, it’s not even a conversation. It’s a notice

- Merad 3y agoAbout 75% of states only require one party to consent to a recording, so you can consent to the recording any conversation that you take part in.
- cddotdotslash 3y agoOne party consent states exist (in fact, most US states are this way). So no, it’s not illegal.
- theshackleford 3y agoNice whataboutism.
- richbell 3y agoMaybe where you live. A lot of places only require single party consent.
- paul7986 3y agoCA, DE, FL, IL, MD, MA, MT, NV, NH, PA and WA all require all parties must consent. All states i lived in and do business in. Thus speaking from experience yet happy to learn new things!
- belltaco 3y agoVirginia(where she lives) is a one party state, so it's certainly legal.
- charcircuit 3y agoBut she is under an NDA and other agreements from Cloudflare. Being a one party state doesn't mean you can upload private company meetings to TikTok.
- danpalmer 3y agoGoing viral on TikTok is far more likely to effect change here than playing along with the process.
- stbtrax 3y agoto make the typical emotionally-dead but overly emotive HR people squirm
- 015a 3y agoArguing (also known as: pushing back) is how you communicate that what happened was wrong. It won't impact the decision; they're just the messengers; but it might impact how the messengers feel about what happened, which might create change. The messengers are also human.
