I don’t understand. Are they 1000x brighter because we can pump 1000x more current through them, or because they’re 1000x more efficient.
If the former, then… not useful for phones?
- Someone 3y agoI don’t see how it can be 1000x more efficient. That would mean current LEDs are, at most, converting 0,1% of power input to light, and the rest to heat. That would make LEDs excellent space heaters, and would leave very, very little room for them being more efficient than incandescent light bulbs.
