With respect, what is the objection to a web-server called Apache? The pun? (a patchy web-server) or just using the name "Apache" at all? I'm English, and I wouldn't dream of asking Americans to stop calling English muffins English.
- pestatije 3y agowhat if some fast-food company in texas called, branded, and advertised their choc donuts as english muffin?
- soueuls 3y agoNobody would care. In Asia there is a « bakery » brand named « Paris Baguette » It’s Korean. And it’s kind of disgusting. Their macarons are terrible. Do French people care? We could not care less. The amount of fragility you need to have to be mad towards a company providing web server. It reminds me of the crazy people trying to change the GitHub’s « master » branch. Or people trying to erase the « master » / « slave » terminology in distributed system. The map is not the territory. The correlation with that and white/Arabic people enslaving black peoples is absolutely 0. Maybe even negative.
- jjgreen 3y agoI couldn't care less, and I'm baffled that anyone would think I would. There's a Scottish comedian who does a routine about the British flag being burned somewhere in the middle-East, "That's not my flag they're burning, it's their flag. You want to buy another one?"
