- vibrunazo 14y agoCan you easily set it to quickly search for apps using Super and change apps using Super + number hotkeys? Or something similar? I'm not really a fan of unity, but I cannot live without those 2 features anymore :S
- keithpeter 14y agoSearch for apps: try dmenu (bit fugly looking but very fast). Just use the XFCE keybinding config to set your preferred binding See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1746773 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1746773 As for Super + number: you might have to hard wire those as separate keybindings Synapse and similar launchers run under XCFE

You don't need Kupfer, since a application quick launcher is in Xubuntu. Kupfer does launch locations as well as applications, though. You can edit the shortcuts in Xubuntu. Their default "appfinder" shortcut is Win+R; I bound it to Win+Space.

I don't understand at all the desire to use gnome-panel, but it's all right there out of box. I groan every time I hear people mention Cinnamon, Mint and Xubuntu because they don't like Gnome-Shell.
- sciurus 14y agoThe gnome-panel interface (fallback mode) is going to go away eventually. Gnome developers have been working to "make gnome-shell work with software-rendering" so that "Gnome can phase out some components that are only kept alive because they are needed in the fallback mode, which allows more resources to be focused on improving Gnome 3". http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Gnome_shell_software_rendering http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Gnome_shell_software_...
