Hertz Is Selling Its Fleet of Rental Tesla Model 3s for Cheap
- Tagbert 3y agoThat’s too bad. I was glad to be able to rent an M3 at Hertz last summer when visiting family. I had planned to do it again this spring. It beats the Nissan Altimas and Kia Sportages.
- floxy 3y agoWhatever happened to Hertz? There was fretting on HN and the like when financially unsophisticated people were talking about buying Hertz stock, after they had declared bankruptcy (in a GameStop-type play). Apparently Hertz didn't completely disappear.
- drewg123 3y agoHertz, and most rental car companies were caught flat footed by the pandemic, holding lots of cars and not doing a lot of business. However, the industry seems to have recovered to levels higher than pre-pandemic, which is surprising to me. (https://www.autorentalnews.com/10212500/annual-u-s-car-rental-revenue-tops-itself-again-for-2023-at-38-3-billion https://www.autorentalnews.com/10212500/annual-u-s-car-renta...) I personally used to use Hertz for rentals on business trips, as we have a good corp. discount with them. However, over the last few years, I've found that I almost never rent a car on a work trip. Immediately post pandemic, rentals were super expensive and it was usually just easier and cheaper to use Uber/Lyft, especially since I don't have to do any expense report paperwork for Uber.
