Casual coding by whatever standards you want, it's more approachable than ever.
Fine, python is a mess. I would never disagree with this, given the pain between 2.x and 3.x and the hell that we went through to get there.
But 2.x has been officially dead for 4 years, and that's it. Trying to use that as a crutch fails to work anymore.
