Firstly the scale is all wrong, in most cases we're not going to produce for the entire globe, just our own needs and that of our friends. Second, what we are doing is being done in Mexico, the USA, and Canada. Not just the USA. Thirdly, this has been happening for years now, a lot longer than most have been aware due to the shale revolution making nat gas energy and byproducts dirt cheap. The pandemic supply shocks and the accelerating break down in globalization is just the latest motivator.
