- bob1029 3y agoIn the US, you have to be fairly diligent as a homeowner to not get taken for a ride by the various HVAC technicians. The more you know about your own system, the more you can save. Even if you don't intend to do any work yourself.
- kube-system 3y agoI know better and I still get taken for a ride. When it's 90F+ outside and the start capacitor fails on my AC compressor, I don't have much room for negotiation.
- sokoloff 3y agoGiven that you know what it is and know which end of a screwdriver to hold, you could reasonably have a start (or combined start/run cap) that matches your unit on hand and DIY replace it before calling anyone.
