I myself wonder what does it even mean to be a “founder” when it means starting a company with other people’s money and having the work done by other people (employees)? I have the utmost respect for people who start their own restaurant with their own money and grow it into multiple locations over decades. But the tech industry isn’t anywhere close to that. If I had ever worked for a company where the CEO visibly did positive things instead of just trying to not fail long enough to collect his golden parachute, maybe my view would be different.
