Second, for many, the mere suggestion that there is a need to learn a new skill connected with research will likely be interpreted as an attack on their intelligence. So the real question we have to be asking is how we can motivate people to even want to uncover truth even when it leads to discomfort. The answer is obvious for those who have already arrived there but not for those who haven't.
