Why America's Car Buyers Are Rethinking EVs
- ZeroGravitas 3y ago> It’s gotten so bad that a nationwide group of almost 4,000 car dealers calling itself “EV Voice of the Customer” Was "EV Voice of the Car Dealers" name already taken or something? This and the line about America falling behind felt like cries for help from a journalist being forced to write abvious propaganda.
- MichaelMug 3y agoWhen you buy an ICE car today you are buying a very mature product. YoY the performance characteristics stay mostly the same, and for commuting you don’t need all that powerful of an engine. The differences I see between model years is mostly style, gadgets and infotainment. I would love to buy an EV. But buying an EV today is like buying a Palm Treo in 2004. There are alternative battery chemistries on the horizon: Sodium, Potassium and Aluminium. And new designs for electrical motors and discussion for transmission systems. AFAIK the only auto maker that has demonstrated a consumer reusable battery and thus a gateway to upgrade to new battery chemistries as they become available is NIO. And NIO is not for sale in the U.S. nor would I trust the brand.
