Isn't this issue almost exclusively caused by the Chinese fishermen?
- p_j_w 3y agoWhat evidence has lead you to this belief?
- pvaldes 3y agomath evidence show that 1000000 > 10. "Exclusively" is a big claim, but is reasonable to assume that the country with the supersized fleet catches more fishes
- hereme888 3y agoHere's one of many, many articles published over the years on the matter: https://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-magazine/long-reads/article/3110537/how-chinas-vast-and-aggressive-fishing-fleet https://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-magazine/long-reads/arti... Oh, that's a paywalled article. Well, here's another: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/aug/25/can-anyone-stop-china-vast-armada-of-fishing-boats-galapagos-ecuador https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/aug/25/can-anyo...
- advisedwang 3y agoDo you have a source for this? Or is it just speculation? To be honest it sounds kind of xenophobic to just randomly blame the Chinese.
- hereme888 3y agoI've read many news reports over the years that it's the Chinese fishing vessels encroaching upon the national waters of other nations, and overfishing them. Those vessels tend to obscure themselves by illegal means, whether by fishing at night and with almost no lights, or other means. They're also reported to be very aggressive, and their unsafe fishing techniques are very damaging to the environment. Nothing xenophobic or random. It's facts. Here's one article: https://e360.yale.edu/features/how-chinas-expanding-fishing-fleet-is-depleting-worlds-oceans https://e360.yale.edu/features/how-chinas-expanding-fishing-...
- hereme888 3y agoI'm getting downvoted by people who can't take 5 seconds to do a Google search and find a trove of information on my claim.
