A good example of why to avoid the opinion section. The former Republican governor of Indiana believes in his gloomy predictions of the future, and they are indeed worrying. Yet Republicans have consistently held to Reagan's Laffer idea of supply-side economics, and Gingrich's rule of no compromise. The world, the US, and both parties within the US have some serious challenges to tackle. They are not on the horizon, they are here. Daniels should not be surrendering or prophesying, he should be leading his party to the table for collaboration and compromise. Democracy works by keeping both parties in check, but requires contribution and input from all sides. Come back to the table, we've got real problems to solve!
