You can't overclock mac parts and their quality is high, so they retain value like crazy while potentially abused desktop parts do not.
I could barely give away my gaming PC from 2015, but loads of people would pay a few hundred dollars for my 2015 MBP 15.
I'm glad you've been successful, but most people aren't so successful.
- satvikpendem 3y agoI think you're misunderstanding why Mac products are more resellable than Windows ones, it has nothing to do with being "abused" or overclocked (that's such a niche thing even among gamers that it bears almost zero relation to reselling). It's because macOS itself has value to consumers, especially as only Apple hardware can run macOS (legally speaking at least, and practically, increasingly more so as Hackintoshes can't yet run on ARM hardware, so eventually they will be phased out as Apple removes features from its Intel builds over time, as they have already started doing).
