- simonw 3y agoThe collection from that basement was relocated to the California Academy but it's not a surprise to me that it isn't all on public display, there were 7,000 skulls in there after all! There's a wall of sea lion skulls at CalAcademy which were collected by Ray Bandar - those have been there for years and are visible in the main hall. Here's a fun tip: any time you're at any kind of wildlife preserve or zoo in California and you run into a guide or docent who looks like they might have been there for more than 5 years or so, ask them if they ever met Ray Bandar. I've found that this often leads to a gruesome and entertaining story!
