I ran a website where people uploaded game save files along with an screenshot of their game world for a few years. It had maybe 10k+ submissions and was a mildly popular game. I took it offline years ago though. Is this something worth archiving?
- grayhatter 3y ago100% yes!
- KomoD 3y agoSure, why not, could be interesting
- JaimeThompson 3y agoWe don't really know what the future might find interesting so saving as much as possible seems like a good thing to do.
- giancarlostoro 3y agoRandom on-disk game saves is how some MMO server projects have been revived by communities. It could also help someone re-implement the game engine having various copies of a game save. You would be surprised how useful archiving game files can be for someone who really wants to re-build a legacy game.
- toomuchtodo 3y agoYes, please consider doing so.
