The Babylonians had similar ideas. Code of Hammurabi, Law 229: If a builder builds a house for someone, and does not construct it properly, and the house which he built falls in and kills its owner, then that builder shall be put to death.
- jvans 3y agoThere has to be some accountability, otherwise capitalism just turns into a game of socializing externalities and personalizing profits. Calhoun makes the decision, reaps the profits regardless of outcome. If things go wrong boeing pays (maybe) and hundreds of people die
- gnulinux 3y agoHow is lawfully prosecuting a private company that makes profits off of a vehicle is the same thing as killing someone? Would you agree with literally any punishment against Boeing for cheaping out on their design?
