Firefox is irrelevant to most users because it just doesn't "work". It just takes a few sites that under perform for a firefox user to switch to chrome where it does indeed "just works". This happened to me personally with roll20.net. Recently with Air India, where I literally couldn't buy a ticket with them with firefox (it spins and shows a blank page)... with chrome, perfectly works fine.
It's a combination of factors (anti-competition, default installed, devs/designers do not have firefox @ tier 1 testing, mozilla executive board fat & happy "Everything is fine").
My main browser is still firefox, but, let's be real, I keep chrome/chromium around to jump to when needed. The web has failed. There's a thin veneer over it, but we're basically back to client/server.
- JohnBooty 3y agoI keep hearing about these sites that don't work in Firefox but I never seem to run into any despite using the web for 2000+ hours per year. That includes a lot of Youtube usage. Works fine for me. I guess my machine was sprinkled with magic pixie dust or something.
- beej71 3y agoI've run into a few. I still use FF near exclusively, but have other browsers installed just in case.
