Those cards weren't good. I know this because the Creative Graphics Blaster RIVA TNT was what I bought in late 1998 and I was broke in late 1998. A good setup in late 1998 was a fast VGA card with high quality VGA output like something from Matrox (or a Rage3D with DVD playback acceleration) and then one or two Voodoo2s ($300/ea). $300 in 1998 is $560 today. So a "good" setup in late-1998 would have been about $1300-1400 today.
