- phkahler 3y agoNo, the old GPUs were already supported. The performance is still being improved now.
- dark-star 3y agoyes, but not by AMD, but the community. Lots of 20+ year old community projects still get feature- or performance-updates these days. However, finding a vendor who would do that will prove to be an impossible task
- atq2119 3y agoAt some point you have to accept that a 20 year old GPU(!) just isn't interesting for anything other than historical and nerd-sniping purposes. That said, I'm sure you could pay Collabora or some shop like it to implement any features for these old drivers that you really care about.
- dark-star 3y agooh, definitely. Everyone who still uses these GPUs probably doesn't require "more speed" (or they would have upgraded already) However, as long as people have fun fixing (and testing) new features or improvements to these old drivers, why not?
- szatkus 3y agoYeah, I looked up the author and the changes were comitted from a gmail account. The official contibution from AMD would be made from an account with amd.com domain.
- JonChesterfield 3y agoFor what it's worth that doesn't follow - the gmail account may well be an AMD employee. Using an email that survives changing employer can be less hassle.
- asveikau 3y agoI did a quick glance to see if anybody was funding this, correct me if I'm wrong but it looks to me like a random dude in Czechia who happens to still use the card.
