- eesmith 3y agoOld people know the 23 is optional. Not quite as old people know what is going on when the name "Edison Carter" appeared. More older people recognize the character than the name. Young people might never have used telnet (assuming their system has it), no have learned that to quit telnet you can do "^]" (control + right square bracket), which will give you a "telnet> " prompt, then type "quit" and press enter to exit the telnet connection. You may need to reset your terminal afterwards.
