Assuming a world in which the rate of girls killing themselves is ~0% and boys is ~5%, I imagine most would think the world would be healthier if the numbers were more similar at ~0%. Phrasing it as “at the same rate” makes me think... yeah, should they be different? I do see the point that the rate going up is bad and it’s currently trending closer in the wrong direction but I can also see how one might read the comment as suggesting that the rates specifically should not be the same.
