A New Year's resolution for tech companies: knock it off with the CAPTCHAs
- biglyburrito 3y agoIs there a reason everyone is still using Google's shitty reCAPTCHA, instead of hCAPTCHA? Cloudflare did a great writeup of their migration back in April 2020: https://blog.cloudflare.com/moving-from-recaptcha-to-hcaptcha/ https://blog.cloudflare.com/moving-from-recaptcha-to-hcaptch...
- milkglass 3y agoThey're monetizing everything they can and playing on both sides of the fence. https://www.hcaptcha.com/labeling https://www.hcaptcha.com/labeling
- CSSer 3y agoYou should all try Sony’s Playstation Network Captchas. They’re insane.
- samstave 3y agoNO. I want companies to subscribe to _MY_ privately owned 'Identiy `token`' -- In that I want an actionable (by [owner]) request where I am asked exactly what PII is being requested from my Identity Vault, by whom, by what jurisdiction, with what accompanying logs/docs/details/contacts related to who exactly is slurping my doxx. THAAT is the holy grail.
- Minor49er 3y agoThis would probably be less of a hurdle for people if so many CAPTCHA libraries didn't also have the dual purpose of being used to train AI models That said, a much better resolution for tech companies would be to stop shoving pop-ups in peoples' faces when they visit a site.
