When I see a job posting with no wage information, I assume they are paying 50% of what a similar job pays on the mid-to high end.
So for a job that you'd see list at $140-180k, I'm guessing they are looking to pay $60-80k. It just doesn't seem worth the time to craft a cover letter, application, couple hours of interviews...
- giantg2 3y agoI wish I saw jobs listed at $140k-180k.
- apwell23 3y agoNetflix lists jobs ranges 200k-800k for their software engineer postings on linkedin.
- giantg2 3y agoThat just seems insane to me. I guess I wouldn't be qualified to work for them.
- _w1tm 3y agoWhy would you say that? Apply and find out.
- ohthatsnotright 3y agoOne of the few FAANG/MAGMA companies I've applied to repeatedly and never heard back. I may not be tailoring my experience to match their culture slides correctly.
- hughdbrown 3y agoUsual practice is to tailor your resume to match the job posting, emphasizing points of agreement. Is Netflix a special case where you have to look up the company values/culture and amend to match that?
- ohthatsnotright 3y agoI can't get a response from Netflix but I do get from others. I know they're big on their culture and maybe it's worth it to tweak the resume specifically to address those. If I knew I would be working there lol.
- giantg2 3y agoBecause I have over 10 years of experience and I'm just a midlevel dev at a low tier company. No way I'll ever get a good job.
- bluedino 3y agoAlmost 15 years old, but check out the Netflix 'Culture' slides https://www.slideshare.net/reed2001/culture-1798664 https://www.slideshare.net/reed2001/culture-1798664
- giantg2 3y agoIf they're like a pro sports team I'd be cut right away.
