Here's a related term: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox I think my household lighting is still more efficient than the incandescents we had when I was growing up. But there sure is more of it, in terms of fixtures as well as light output.
