I think you’re right. Generally speaking things go through cycles of centralization and decentralization. Generative AI is going to cause centralization of trust back to authorities and authoritative sources for now. It’s already occurring for the news and media, and it will occur for hobbyist communities as well. Perhaps with a public/private key “is human” verification we might see continued success for creators and content on the Internet, but I think that using AI to detect AI is likely to falter because it’s just easier to meet in person or use a key instead. It’s a matter of category difference.
