- hodesdon 3y agoI wrote the essay. The idea is that if somebody proposes that some new category of thing is conscious, then the burden of proof is on them to justify their claim. We have empirical tests for consciousness, for instance; that could be one possible justification. I wasn't trying to suggest that the models prove their own consciousness.
- ganzuul 3y agoWe do need to clarify what our language means. Is this self-awareness or the hard problem of consciousness?
