- cratermoon 3y ago"Boardrooms and executive suites have tended to be ideology-free, run on a blend of the pragmatic, the opportunistic and the selfish. But that was before effective altruism." Sorry, but pragmatism, opportunism, and selfishness are ideologies, or aspects of a broader ideological worldview. When FT says "ideology-free", it simply buries the broad neoliberal consensus driving business. It's an ideology so widespread it's become a sort of background noise: always there, but not noticeable until someone draws attention to it. <https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/apr/15/neoliberalism-ideology-problem-george-monbiot https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/apr/15/neoliberalism-...> We notice the ideology of EA because it strikes a different note in a different key, not because it's ringing out from the silence.
