Estimation is difficult because we compare apple with oranges. One thing is to perform a task another one is to freeze the intelligence that allows us to perform the task. It involves foreseeing edge cases which might not be present in a particular application of the logic. On the other hand once its coded, it's way faster (because the logic was abstracted) and it is flawless (it always yields the same result).
