AstroForge, a private company, wants to mine a space rock
- deegles 3y agoA billion dollars worth of gold is about 15,000 kg. Though I wonder if the price would collapse as soon as it became clear large amounts of gold can be mined from space.
- pixl97 3y agoDepends on the costs of getting it back to the ground. It's probably not cost effective to conventionally land it like fragile cargo, but you still need some kind of guidance system to keep it from bouncing off or buring up in the atmosphere, that or impacting a population center.
- andrewfromx 3y agoor you just leave it up there and wait for the humans to arrive. Assuming gold will be something people want to have when they live in space. Yeah imaging your own locker up there already filled with millions in gold.
