The article mentions the Black Buck series of raids the UK made on the Falkland Islands while they were under Argentinean occupation in 1982:
"It also allowed for extremely long range missions like the famous raid on Port Stanley Airport during the Falklands War in 1982, where Vulcan bombers based in England flew nonstop to the South Atlantic and back."
However, it's worth noting these missions were actually flown from Ascension Island in the South Atlantic, not from the UK. Although it is also interesting that the in-flight refueling aircraft which had a similar range to the Vulcans also had to be in-flight refueled themselves.
