Show HN: My side project is helping me manage my finances
For years, I have struggled to understand my cash flow and save for the future. In addition to that, my wife has many credit cards and accounts that complicate matters. I am building a tool that connects all our accounts, helps us create a budget, and tracks and adjusts expenses on the fly. I am also sprinkling some AI magic on it for financial suggestions. I am looking for feedback on the implementation. More importantly, I am looking for more beta testers to improve the product.
- latexr 3y ago> FML is a platform that takes the chore out of planning and reviewing your finances. Might want to reconsider that initialism. https://www.merriam-webster.com/wordplay/what-does-fml-mean https://www.merriam-webster.com/wordplay/what-does-fml-mean https://www.fmylife.com https://www.fmylife.com
- jankrah 3y agoThat is the pun. The goal is to take that `FML` feeling of dealing with personal finance and flip it on its head.
- latexr 3y agoAssociating with a well-known initialism that means the exact opposite may hurt more than help you. But as long as you’re aware of it, worth the try. Best of luck with it.
- jankrah 3y agoThanks for pointing it out. Still early enough to change the name if need be, but I do not think there should be too much confusion.
- skwiid 3y agowhat are you using to integrate with financial institutions?

- cklo 3y agoWhat does the AI do?
- jankrah 3y agoIt is used in a few different scenarios: 1. When creating a budget, it analyzes trends and transactions to suggest inefficiencies and ways to improve savings. 2. For monthly reviews, it gives you a summary of your monthly cash flow, highlights, etc 3. You can also get suggestions on monthly reviews to increase savings, spot abnormalities, etc. We are constantly testing use cases here, so I am excited about the possibilities.
