I would tend to agree with this. But as a frugal person, I find I don’t spend enough money on certain categories. One, often forgotten, value of a budget is to learn where you’re underspending and help enforce that. For me this is often education that disguises itself as entertainment (think books, dev kits, art supplies), travel, and random minor home improvements that don’t come out of the upkeep fund. I’m very good at saving, but I’m terrible at spending on things that could actually make a qualitative difference in my life. So budgeting can help remind me I’m not spending enough on these things.
