Intel secures $3.25B Israeli gov't grant to build $25B chip fab in Israel
- jakeinspace 3y agoSeems like a pretty vulnerable target in future Hamas/Hezbollah conflicts. I'm assuming a fab like this would necessitate its own local Iron Dome system if there's not already one in the vicinity. I'd imagine that just a couple of lucky rocket hits could do billions of dollars worth of damage to a fab like this. Now I'm curious if you can get rocket attack insurance in Israel...
- weatherlite 3y agoThe most sensitive parts can be built underground. It costs more but is worth it. But in general - you're right, Intel is taking a bit of a risk here.
- smoothjazz 3y agoThat's pretty gross. I can't reify the desire for "business as usual" with the horrors I've seen Israel commit. I can't really stomach the idea of doing business with companies or people who support Israel. I'll stick with AMD in this case.
- compsciphd 3y agoAMD is also in Israel. :)
