Recruiting Question
I posted last week on here but I'm not seeing the post. I'm a recruiter but am looking to see if I can network through HackerNews since its such a great community and I could use some guidance to whoever is willing to help. (making my own LLC) Is that something that's acceptable?

- thesuperbigfrog 3y agoIs this your previous post? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38735038 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38735038 You can click on your username on the top right and then click on "submissions" to see all the posts you submitted. Any posts that follow the HN Guidelines (https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html) should be fine. The beginning of each month typically has a "Who's Hiring (Month Year)" post where interested parties can post openings and connect. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38490811 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38490811
- chrisrtosi 3y agoSomehow I didn't see these responses, thank you for re-directing me here! I appreciate it and always look into the first of the month "Who's Hiring" post. I feel it goes a long way. Thanks again!
- comprev 3y agoIt's generally frowned upon to try and exploit the HN community purely for business, in particular recruitment where recruiters are dime a dozen. Look for the monthly "Who wants to be hired?" and "Who's hiring?" submissions.
- paulcole 3y agoTo be fair this site is a content marketing campaign for a VC firm. If somebody wants to exploit that purely for business, all power to them IMO.
- chrisrtosi 3y agoI appreciate the directness of this reply. And to be honest, it's a shame recruiting gets a bad rep. Can only speak for myself, but I love what I do and take my role seriously. I've hired great AI engineers and Dev/SecOps individuals from here, so to me.... even though I'm not creating or saving lives, I do feel I make a difference in that persons life. Just my honest thoughts.
- codingdave 3y agoAsking questions about how this community would like to work with recruiters and how to organize yourself and stand out sounds completely reasonable to me. But if you just asked and didn't get a response... then that was your response. Asking a reasonable question but not getting any engagement from the community is quite possible, especially with the friction recruiters both receive and cause in our industry. I'd say give it a couple weeks and try again, and if people just aren't responding, then that is what it is.
