Tesla engineer 'pinned' by robot at Giga Texas factory, leaving trail of blood
- chfritz 3y agoStupid clickbait title. "The robot was designed to handle freshly-cast aluminium car parts." This means it was not an intelligent robot (one that senses its environment and changes its behavior accordingly), but an old-school industrial robot arm. These are not designed to work around humans which is why they operate behind fences. So if a human got injured then most likely that human ignored or overwrote some of the safety mechanisms and essentially got himself into the path of the robot.

Maybe they should be and maybe they will be in the future but right now it is the human's responsibility to avoid getting in the way of a "live" robot in the same way you would avoid getting in the way of a moving car.
