what is perplexing to me is that I've been thinking about the sidereal problem for the last or so ...(because I heard on a podcast that the earliest sunset occurs more than a week before the solstice and the latest sunrise occurs after the solstice, but still the solstice is the shortest day, and they said something about the tilt of the earth and I was thinking that was not explanatory, so I've been idly noodling about it)... and I just got this problem wrong! didn't even occur to me :) in my defense, the thumbnail for this video does not state the question so I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, but guided by the multiple choice I selected 3 but talk about having my brain primed for the question... doh!
